It seeks to address the short, medium, and long-term development challenges in Africa in a holistic and comprehensive manner. MINDS’s vision is to have African societies attain democracy, economic prosperity, social inclusiveness as well as their rightful place in the global community on the basis of a keen self-awareness. It’s mission is stated as, ‘ The Mandela Institute for Development Studies will provide a forum for dialogue, information dissemination and networking, underpinned by rigorous research on different elements of ‘Africaness’ in order to inform and influence policy and practice on governance, economic development and the evolution of African institutions’.
Project Description:The goal of the project is to enhance policy formulation and implementation in Africa and the specific objectives of are to
(i) Enhance human and institutional capacity of MINDS to achieve its mandate and
(ii) Enhance a better understanding of Africa’s heritage and its relevance to the Africa’s Governance and economic development issues
