The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) is committed to advancing Ethiopia’s development through capacity building support, the ACBF Executive Secretary, Prof. Emmanuel Nnadozie has said.
Prof. Nnadozie said this while paying a courtesy call on 22 January to His Excellency (H.E) Ato Ahmed Shide, State Minister of the Ethiopian Ministry of Finance and Economic Development (MoFED) where he expressed his appreciation for Ethiopia’s attention to the issue of capacity building.
Ethiopia is one of the 39 member states of ACBF and has been urged to take a more prominent role in shaping the future of the Foundation. “We call on you to actively participate in ACBF and welcome your input in our next five years plan that commences in 2016,” Prof. Nnadozie said.
The five-year Strategic Medium Term Plans (SMTP) outlines the Foundations strategic pillars for that period. The current blueprint is from 2012 to 2016.
“We believe in the importance of ACBF, and would like to continue to work together” said H.E. Ato Ahmed Shide. He also pointed out that his government believes in the importance of capacity building.
At the moment, the ACBF is working towards establishing its Eastern and Southern Regional Sub Office in Addis Ababa. Prof. Nnadozie made a request to the MoFED to expedite the process of the host agreement.
The government of Ethiopia has so far received over USD $18 million in grants from the Foundation.
The ACBF Executive Secretary is currently on mission in Addis Ababa and will attend the African Union Summit this week.
