On 3-4 November 2016, the African Capacity Building Foundation organized a validation workshop of the African Governance Outlook (AGO) draft Flagship Report.

The main objective of the validation workshop was to review the draft Flagship Report, identify weaknesses and shortcomings, and agree on improvements required to bring the report up to a refined final version for publication and subsequently launching before end of year 2016.

Furthermore, the workshop was a crucial opportunity for the resource persons representing the policy makers from the piloting countries to enhance their understanding of the AGO framework and raise and address any concerns and challenges so that there can be a common agreement on the contents regarding lessons learnt and suggestions for policymakers.

The African Governance Outlook project is a collaborative initiative jointly being implemented by the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) aimed at providing an effective African-based diagnostic tool on financial governance. ACBF has been tasked to undertake the piloting of AGO in 10 pilot countries, namely Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal Tanzania, and Uganda.

The workshop took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and gathered 28 experts from these countries, as well as from AfDB and ACBF.

The recognition of ACBF as the African Union’s Specialized Agency for Capacity Development launches the beginning of a new era for capacity building by ACBF, which will require an appropriate level of political commitment and financial support from all stakeholders.

Lamin Momodou

The remarkable achievements ACBF has registered over the past 26 years is not by accident in our opinion. They have come through hard work, dedication, commitment, purposeful leadership, support from the member countries as well as productive partnership building.

Mr. Lamin Momodou MANNEH, Director, UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa
Goodall Gondwe

Africa needs ACBF as much, probably more now, than at the time it was created in 1991.

Hon. Goodall Gondwe, former Chair of the ACBF Board of Governors and Minister of Finance – Malawi
Ken Ofori Atta

Ghana’s partnership with ACBF is a tremendous blessing for us and therefore the opportunity for Ghana to host the 26th ACBF Board of Governors Meeting is something that we treasure.
