The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), African Union’s Specialized Agency for Capacity Development, joins the Continent in celebrating a smooth and successful election of the new regime of the African Union.

ACBF Executive Secretary, Prof. Emmanuel NNADOZIE has commended the former Chair of the Union for his diligence in steering the ship during a testing time of the COVID 19 pandemic which halted implementation of a significant number of development programs and projects on the continent.

“Among the many attributes, the chairmanship of South Africa, led by H.E. President Cyril Matamela RAMAPHOSA will undoubtedly always be remembered for fiercely protecting Africa’s main resource; the lives of the people of Africa, without whom, development can never materialize. On that note, we also receive H.E. President Félix-Antoine TSHISEKEDI of the Democratic Republic of Congo with enthusiasm and wish him success in his chairmanship of the Union.”

ACBF considers the re-election of H.E. Moussa Faki MAHAMAT to lead for a second term as Chairperson of the AU Commission, as a clear indication that Africa has confidence in his capability to deliver on the Continent’s development agenda.

Prof. Nnadozie also says the election of Dr. Monique NSANZABAGANWA of the Republic of Rwanda as the first ever woman Deputy Chairperson of the AU Commission, as well as the gender balance achieved in the building of the new Commission is a great milestone and a bold statement that “Africa believes in the capacity of women to lead.”

“We receive the news with great optimism and enthusiasm. We wish the Chairperson, the Deputy Chairperson and the new Commission success in their assignment and we again pledge our unwavering support to continue to vigorously build the critical human and institutional capacity required to achieve the #AfricaWeWant through a successful implementation of the #Agenda2063,” says the ACBF Executive Secretary, Prof. Emmanuel NNADOZIE.

The recognition of ACBF as the African Union’s Specialized Agency for Capacity Development launches the beginning of a new era for capacity building by ACBF, which will require an appropriate level of political commitment and financial support from all stakeholders.

The remarkable achievements ACBF has registered over the past 26 years is not by accident in our opinion. They have come through hard work, dedication, commitment, purposeful leadership, support from the member countries as well as productive partnership building.

Africa needs ACBF as much, probably more now, than at the time it was created in 1991.

Ghana’s partnership with ACBF is a tremendous blessing for us and therefore the opportunity for Ghana to host the 26th ACBF Board of Governors Meeting is something that we treasure.
